Cheers for the reply, I have noticed that is isn't everyday though, and yeah sometimes the coolant light goes on when I floor it but I rarely floor it when it isn't running at operating temperature. It does use a lot of coolant and oil, but I have only had white smoke, not blue. I'm guessing if it were the head gasket I'd have blue? Kind of hoping it is the turbo really, they're cheaper to sort out. [emoji37] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Seems on my mot at least I've gotten an advisory for white smoke on idle, checked today and yesterday and it was okay. But I'm guessing my head gasket is on it's way out? It's using a lot of oil though too. And sometimes on boost the coolant light comes on. Any ideas anyone? Car is a 1997 850R. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. New to this, my previous car was a Mk4 Golf GTI so I'm new to Volvo's thought I'd start with an 850R though as it's a nice "sensible" family bus.
