whats it like in the bendy bits?

Not done a 60-100 yet, no. Never had it on a rolling road either, and never likely to, my bum dyno tells me its quick. If you take the nominal power figures for the various upgrades into account and add them all up, it comes to around the 290bhp mark. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less.

I've still got my water injection kit to fit, but as it stands at the moment I shouldn't think I'll be modding it much more.

It's really quite good in the bendy bits. Not as refined a drive as my P2, probably very akin to the 850. It corners very flat, grip is exceptional (although my tyres are past their best, new ones shortly...) and has a tendency to oversteer slightly when pushing on, which is apparently the norm with the suspension mods it currently has.

Power delivery is absolutely brutal, as is characteristic of the 9000 Aero. Torque builds rapidly from about 1,500 and peak is reached at 1,800 and stays uncannily flat all the way to almost red line.

The brakes on the 9000 are substantially better than my P2 though. If there's one more thing to do on the T5 it's the brakes. Only annoying thing with the 9000's breaks is the terrible squealing when cold, but once warmed up you can stop on a sixpence. So much more ability than the P2's.

All in all its probably a very close match on the same roads as my P2 (which is of course modified) but both deliver in a completely different way.

Definatly is on the cards, Not a 9000 Aero though as im sure Cornclose will back me up....The gearboxes are chocolate :D

It has been discussed between me and my fellow Saab expert friend that we might build me something using a 9-3 aero or Viggen shell with an early bottom end etc etc

We shall see.

So going by your turn over rate of cars you will have one in about 6 months then as you have just sold and got another one? Yes?

When mine returns i might get a Diesel to bomb around in but plane to have the T5 R for a long time to come!!!

With the money you have ploughed into that T5R i would hope you will never ever sell it!!! :D

Apparently so, yes. Although this is my second 9000 and I've never had any issues to date. The ones who are having gearbox issues tend to be the ones with 350+ bhp. Although many with almost 400 bhp are still on their original box. It's the weakest part of the 9000 though, but even a complete rebuild isn't big £££'s.

The B234 engine is strong though - much stronger than the 9-5's 2.3. It's easily as strong as the 2.3 Volvo lump, if not stronger, and is apparently capable of close to 500 bhp without any internal mods.

All in all, a very strong car bar the gearbox (and even that isn't *that* much of a problem). It feels like it's carved out of a solid block of steel.
