I dare say a fair ammount of our t5's are ex police, What my question is what "extras" do they have and do we need to notify insurance or does the reg give away this to insurance companies??

I was told the ex polce t5's have bigger brakes, better wishbones and some have riot glass.

Mine happens to be a 1998 v70 t5 ex police

Thanks

Modifications were usually limited to the electrical system and bigger brakes. The early 850's were notorious for brake fade
My first Volvo patrol car was N504 GFC which was an ex demo which had done the rounds and was eventually bought by South Wales. That was taken back soon after for the brake upgrade. It was probably the quickest of the Volvos that I drove.
Where was your car based?

Your VIN will identify all of the components that the plodder came out of the factory with so the insurers will know about them unless someone else has upgraded anything since plod had it.

does that mean we can get cheaper insurance on p2's onwards seeing as we have anti "glass in face" front windows and lower than S spec interiors :P ?

As long as it's on it's original registration number, that should give a good idea of which force first used it.

The HC should tell you where it was registered. Forces normally use local plates unless it was a demo bought used. It wasn't one of ours though.

To add to the above, HC seems to be Brighton. You may get a result if you make a polite phone call to the local force and ask to speak to the fleet manager.

Yeah you could try that, but most won't confirm or deny it was one of theirs and certainly won't release any infomation about it, they are abit funny about that for some reason!!

And if you send them something like the below ;)

You'll get the lot - enc a copy of your V5 makes life slightly easier in some ways if you've only just bought it.
