I bought the car 5 days ago, its insured on day of purchase before driving away, its taxed the same day and still mot'd, and bought from Luton and is visually very clean and no smoke to draw attention.

I was driving to work one morning last week (in Leeds), was in middle lane doing 60mph, needed to be off at junction so changed with adequate time and a safe gap in front and behind me, just so happens behind me was a marked police x5, within 30 seconds it had flashed blues and pulled me to hardshoulder,

Officer comes to my car ask if ive just bought it and stated that I wouldnt have recieved log book, told him the story above and was never questioned, tried to show recipt, mot etc and he wasnt too bothered just asked for id to which I shown him  my licence, he then politely sent me on my way and was over in no more than 30 seconds.

Just curious as to why any ideas??

The reg probably has a marker on it due to the previous owner being a little.... dubious?

Yeah I did think the same to be honest, Im not too fussed as Im all legal with nothing to hide, but on the flip side I bought this car as it has more room for my children (plus sounds better than my previous vectra diesel ;) )
BUT I would be less than impressed getting pulled all the time whilst carrying my kids, How can I get a marker removed if it has one and can I find out too??

Where did you buy it? Was it from a garage? If it was picked up on ANPR it is likely that it was shown as no keeper details.

Big X5 with Rectangular Camera on drivers side, rear roof rail?

You were stopped more likely, as your car was probs showing as non-insured - as for the quick checks...
you clearly look like you aren't a scrote, and had reasonable story, and have docs in car, and prepared to show them to him - checks you've got licence, hey presto, all angles covered.

check http://www.askmid.com/ownvehicle/ to see if your insurers have it on the insurance database yet ;)

Don't worry about getting stopped all the time - They aren't daft ;)
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair

Yeah was bought from a garage, and check askmid prior to driving it a lot as feared my car being siezed as I was showing not insured over the weekend (before I got stopped) and I never had docs for the weekend they didnt arrive till tuesday and askmid was showing insured the same day (obviously I took insurance out prior to driving it away from the garage).

As for not looking like a scrote hahaha thanks possibly the nicest comment Ive recieved for a while.

End of the day just dont want to be in the same situation i was over 10 years ago when i first started driving, where the local police had a list of regs's they "like to keep an eye on" well before the days of pipps cameras, but getting stopped 6 times a week became boring and then we started a game of who can get the most "producers" in a month lol
