Had my car booked in fo mot today and when i went to collect it they said they couldnt do it because when they typed the vin into their computer the car wasnt on the system. The 3 different vin plates on the car all match, but the vin on the v5 is one digit out. My Cars vin ends in a 1 and the logbook ends in a L. Im thinking dvla have made a mistake somewhere. Anyone been in this situation before?

hmm..I would ring DVLA tbh and check with them to make sure.

I suppose anybody with Vadis/Vida could check if your VIN number matches up though correctly

Yup, we've had this before. It was a good few years ago now but seem to recall we got it sorted fairly easily. In our case I think it must have been a data input error when they transferred the paper based docs on to the computer system.

Just out of interest, what happened in the last MOT and where was that done?

It was quite a few years ago, when the computerized system first came out. The car in question is 30 years old :P. I honestly can't remember what happened, think he had to do something manually to get it to go through, but I could be way off. It was done at Kwik Fit.

We must have sorted it with the DVLA, or they did, as I don't recall having any issue since.

All the Test Center needs to do is enter the VIN manually to do the test but you still need to get the error sorted out with DVLA.

Yep sounds like a DVLA error as no vin number ends in a letter for your car as the last digits of the VIN are the chassis number
