Put a squirt of WD40 in the barrel every month or so...usually stops spinning problems. Grease is what it really needs, but harder to apply! The barrel spins if you put the wrong key in, so I guess some of the tabs in the lock are sticking, preventing it from opening.

cheers

£750 for that sounds pretty damned good to me.

WD40 is unsuitable for locks - It collects dirt/muck, and not only that doesn't last very long..

What you need is:

http://www.sportsbik...31981?r=Froogle

WD40 is a well known "lock breaker..."

I'd be tempted to blow the lock out with Carb Cleaner (to remove the sticky nasty WD40 residue), then when dry, relub with the correct lock lube ;)
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair

Back in one piece....car really is a minter and is mechanically perfect......

Will be getting a detail tomorrow and putting some pics up.  Only issue is the locks haha!  Its 2 barrels..One is faulty so there is another wired to it as a temp fix.  I have to use one key to put in the ignition, then use a screwdriver....yes a screwdriver in the other barrel to start it and then use the other volvo key to unlock the steering.....a faf but its something I can sort out.....Would ahve scared me off but she was genuine and the car is hpi clear so what the hell.....

Just glad to have a fully working car again!

Interesting, Ben...didn't know WD was bad news. One thing is for sure, though...the lubrication makes the problem with those locks go away, albeit only for a few weeks.

This was on my old S70 (the V70R lock is AOK), so I'll ask the mate who bought it if he's still having trouble, and if so suggest he tries the lock lube.

cheers

James
