Hi All,
After having a bit of run-around by Mill for a week, finally got something in response in the post today.
Suffice to say the air turned blue, and were it not for the fact that I work in Settle and couldn't leave until nearly 5 today I would have been straight round and given them a piece of my mind.
In a nutshell they are disputing the milage the car was sold at - say it was 56,476miles. But the details I had from the garage on 8th Aug state 56,541miles..... and the MOT certificate from 12th August (2 days before I collected the car) states 57,963 miles!!!! I'm sure when I picked it up on 14th it was just over the 58,000 miles. Unfortunately checking the paperwork I now see it states 56,476miles. I missed that one in the mist of all the paperwork signed to part ex and buy the car.
Mill state that they paid for the first service, and I paid for the second one. If they bothered to check their records they will see that I actually took out a service plan, where I paid for two services up front (as I knew it was likely I would be a student and so paid for as much up-front as possible whilst still working)!!!!!!!
They say they quoted me 'at cost' to replace the headlights and O/S pop-up headlight washer cap 'thus saving £229'. I actually had a conversation on the telephone where I was quoted £801.36 to replace the lot and when I complained I was told 'I could go to Volvo, they MAY offer a discretionary goodwill discount, this may be 20 or 25%'. Definitely NOT a firm quote (other than top price), and certainly not 'at cost'.
They go on to claim that the split in the drivers seat is 'from wear and tear and not covered by any warranty' - strange that the split has occurred over the last few months and there is absolutely no other marks or signs of wear and tear.
They state that the 2nd row seatbelt 'is not covered under any warranty so would be chargeable'. - This was identified as an issue when the car was just 5 years old, and still within the 12 month 'Volvo Selected Used Car Warranty' that is supposed to give you peace of mind when buying a used Volvo. Starting to look like the Volvo and Mill warranties are not worth the paper they are written on.
They included a booklet for me.... 'Mill Garages Service +, Loyalty discounts for valued customers'. ARE THEY TAKING THE P!@$!!!!! In it are vouches that gives me a free safety inspection between services - hang on, the free safety inspection they have offered anyway just because I have a car from them and they want my business to put right anything that may be faulty? The booklet also has free MOT & 1 year MOT cover with their 3rd year Volvo scheduled service, 25% off 4th year scheduled Volvo service, and 35% off 5th year scheduled Volvo service. Now, why on earth would I want to give them any more of my business and hard earned with the service I have received. Oh, and the car has had it's 5th year scheduled Volvo service - the last service!!!!!!
And here it the best one - the service + booklet also has a £50 M&S voucher for me if I introduce a new customer to Mill who buys a car!!!!!!!! Priceless!!! they really think I'm going to recommend people to them after the way I've been treated, and fobbed off???? I rekon I could find a few people who would give me £50 for enlightening them about Mill and stopping them from buying a car and having to deal with them and get horrendous customer service...
Enough said, though there is more. I was livid when I got home and looked into it, having typed this though I've moved on. Mill Volvo, it's LAUGHABLE!!! What a bunch of.....
Seems to me that especially with the milage issue that Mill are not keeping appropriate records. Not sure that's quite right or legal???
Going back to the finance company now (Black Horse) to enlighten them. Hopefully get them behind me and get something sorted. They have been extremely helpful so far, and at least get the headlights sorted would be something of a result.
Anyone had any issues, or got anything I can use/legal help or dealings with 'cowboy' dealers? I really need to get this sorted!
