Sorry for the delay folks, but patience is a virtue an all that........ :whistling:

Picked up the beast yesterday from the gent who I purchased it from in Milton Keynes. The car is a 2004 MY '53' Plate XC90 2.9 T6 SE. First registered Jan '04 supplied by H R Owen, Nth London. The gent who I purchased it from was the car's second owner and he had purchased it as used from Pilling Volvo Milton Keynes.

The car has only travelled 63,500 miles from new (I've nearly done 500 since picking it up!!) and is MOT'd until Jan 2012 (has only covered 4,500 since last MOT), Taxed until year end and has full service history upto 60k. Next Service due at 72k. All four tyres are Michelin Diamaris 235/60 18 and have over 6mm tread on all. The timing belt has already been done at 61k courtesy of Volvo Car UK!!!!!. The reason for this is tha the owner had noticed an oil leak and took the car in to Pilling. They stripped the head and diagnosed that the head gasket was at fault, replaced it and fitted a new timing belt & tensioners all at the same time and the bill was picked up under Volvo Selekt warranty.

Granted, I know that the XC90 is not a speed freaking monster, despite this the T6 power plant does get the beast to 60 in 9 seconds but once it kicks in, the twin turbo power delivery certainly gives you a firm kick. Suddenly everything blurs around you and the muppet in a tranny van who was riding on your tailgate is a blip in the rear view mirror. It sure is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

All is not rosy though, I do have a couple of gripes......

1. I need to replace the pads & discs all round and new handbrake shoes.  All are just on the borderline in my opinion. Immediate fix. (this week)
2. Passenger door mirror is cracked and needs to be replaced. Short term fix (next few weeks)
3. Both headlight lenses are showing the tell tale "milkyness" clouding that affects the XC90. Short term fix (next few weeks)
4. Why in the hell did Volvo oversee the design & installation of a "Premium" Dolby Pro-Logic sound system that doesnt have at least one auxilliary input but also could sound better? Long terrm fix (>6 months)

So all in all despite the gripes there are many more postives and I is a happy bunny and that is all that matters.

Plans?

Nothing really firm at the moment other than the brakes.

In terms of the stereo, in order to get the iPhone connected I can't live forever with an FM transmitter and retuning every five minutes, so I might look at means & methods of integration. Can't use the USA -SPEC or iMiv as the XC90'c stereo isnt MELBUS based. The infotaiment on the 90's is MOST fibre optic based so that then leads me to look at a Dension Gateway 500 (circa £300) and I'll cover this in a separate thread.

Tuning? Exhaust? - Wait and see. Nothing firmly in mind yet. Might end up keeping it stock.

The princely sum for this beastie?  I'll just say that I got it at an absolute steal :o (mucha mucha filthy lucre below book)

So without further ado here's some piccies.......
(sorry for the crap quality & for some godforsaken reason, depsite editing the pics on Photobucket, the links have not pulled up the edits  )

looks nice :D I like the look of the XC90, personally if i had a petrol though, it'd have to be the fuel gobbling V8 or the D5 but have it remapped :P

They are cracking cars if you can deal with crap MPG. The only gripe with them is the 'pattery' ride, which all 'new' volvos seem to have at the moment, and the full leather seats don't support you enough-you simply glide like a puppy labrador on ice across them through bends :D

That said, you seem really pleased and say you've got a steal so why not!

Stedders..they are not meant for high speed cornering  .....try driving one fully laden while towing a horse trailer, I couldn't think of anything better suited to the task ...we love the one we use (same T6 AWD)

If MPG was gonna be a problem, then I sure as hell wouldnt be in the market for an XC or any other 4x4 "SUV" etc.......

Think of a number that's between 5 and 7 and then multiply by 1000. Therein lies the answer to the price I paid.

Pleased? Fckin ecstatic. Really chuffed.:dance: :wav:

(Jumps off bandwagon)

Seriously though, these were low speeds (like Irf's driving). Bit of a shame

Wahey!!!! Just done a little over 1000 miles in the beast and I'm still grinning like a cheshire cat. Love the comfort  , near silence with minimal road noise and the gorgeous growl of the T6 when the go pedal is plunged down and the world goes by in a blur.....:wacko: :drive1:

Christ for such big and heavy car, it sure can shift when pressed but there's no hassle in doing so.

Average MPG has worked out at 20 mpg approx (occasionally dipping to 18.5 indicated :o ) but I knew exactly what was getting into so I'm not gonna mither.

I've enquired with Heico as to the cost and availability of their ECU upgrade (+48Bhp ) for my vehicle and the cost as comeback as an eyewatering €1312 -£1159 :o (For vehicles younger than 36mths the cost is €1700!!!) car will be off the road whilst I send the ECU back to Heico for programming. So I may wait a while further before I decide to do anything in the tuning arena.

So, I've ordered up my discs, pads and shoes and hopefully if delivered on Saturday, I'll get them fitted on Saturday afternoon.

Now have 69,500 on the clock so have done close to 6k. Still enamoured with the car, the comfort is excellent.

Have already fitted the new discs & pads at 64,500 much improved performance, and have fitted two new Michelin Diamaris up front.

Have also fitted the Dension Gateway500 back in August so the iPhone is treated as a CD changer and I can play my music, it also has USB & RCA aux inputs, so I'm a happy bunny on the ICE front.

Still no firm plans for modding yet, might leave it till the new year.

Now have broke the 70k barrier but having this issue with the autobox. Hopefully will get this sorted over the next few days.

Still love the car though. The comfort is divine, the visibilty is excellent. So 6,500 miles with an average of 800 per week. The brakes need some more tlc (calipers & fluid change ATE blue) and service is due.
