Hi Guys

My quest for a T5 has now finished and I am not the proud owner of a 1997 T5 estate.

I have long lusted after one of these from the days of Rydell and Lammers, and they represent amazing value now. Great performance, amazing sound, lots of creature comforts, a big boot, and fantastic build quality (as I am sure you all know!). Mine is a 1997 car and it has no rust at all.

So, the car is a manual and drives very well indeed. There are a couple of minor bits and pieces to sort out (exhaust bracket, throttle cable, rear and headlight wiper arms and a few cosmetic bits), but once those are done it (hopefully) will be 100% again. I'll post up more info as my work progresses.

Many thanks to Y2blade for his help in my quest.

Here are some pics.  I am too excited just now to take the time to take any arty ones, but once my huge grin has subsided I'll post some more up.

This is a great forum, and has provided me with some great info.  I look forward to contributing.

Thanks guys.

The exhaust does sound quite fruity - here is a video the previous owner made.  I will see how I get on with it :)

Cheers guys.

I've been doing a few bits and bobs to the car over the past couple of weeks, like adding new handbrake cables, a strut brace (from T5Lover), getting the interior valeted, a wiper arm for the back, the tracking done and a load cover (from Niles).

Just need to find some cupholders now Posted Image

It is going into the body shop next week to get a small bit of paintwork done, and then I'll get the air con regassed and that should be it. For now : ) It has a manual boost controller and a Cosworth actuator fitted already, and I will see where I go from here.

I can't wait to drive it with the tracking done and the strut brace fitted.

I will post some more pics when it comes back from the bodyshop.
