Hi poeples,

New toy is now in my posession.....a manual FWD V70R...Totally stock but I have just fitted blanking plate and forge dump valve which I collected of volvo last week, cheers mate :)

I won't go into big plans or spoil the changes I might make to it, all I will say is the look of it from the outside will remain near stock as possible.

Here's how it currently looks:

Thats odd....haha...yeah rough time is under 10 so I assume pretty good.  There is noticeably more lag with this car than my T5 but I gather its the different turbo...

Will I cause any damage running just the blanking plate?? I know that by doing this you are running a plumbed system and will get "chatter" or "pigeon" from compressor surge by air stalling the turbo.....but it has been an option for most turbo cars....S13 200sx's didn't come with any valve from stock.

Basically because the T5/V70r have so many breathers and pipes going everywhere from everthing, is there gonna be any harm to me running "chatter" mode??  Its not for the noise, well it is a little, its more because I'm not a keen lover of the VTA dump valve and the stock recirc valve makes the car feel so boggy to drive fast!

If there is anything else I need to disconnect/or connect, or if I shouldnt do it at all then please please let me know!

On the sx forum I remember reading a link that said under 1.4 bar its no real issue. Having said that, general consensus is that long term you'll break your turbo. On my volvo at one point I was running a dump valve with a tight spring. It used to pop, bang and flame(decat needed for flames) but I remember going round a certain corner at the ring, quite a long bend that needed feathering in fourth gear. The car was kangarooing. Sorted the correct spring and it was better but no more pops and bangs. I cried myself to sleep after that.

Lovely looking car btw, congratulations.

Nice wagon! My favorite color combo.

Why not just shim the stock CBV? As long as the diaphragm is in good shape, shimming the spring in increase tension works just fine. I ran well over stock boost pressures that way with no loss. I'm assuming yours is ME4.4, not ME7 - that has a whole separate set of issues when trying to run higher boost levels on a stock tune....

Should be up and charging by 2500rpm....the turbo is barely any bigger. Looks very tidy. Would you mind PMming me with what you paid for it? I'm trying to work out what's a fair price for mine...although I'm currently contemplating keeping it, pending outcome of new job application (Steddy will be pleased to hear!)...

cheers

James
