Yes, Don's on the case.

I want MTE to confirm if it is the correct software which I have got.

John you seem to of had a very lot of software related problems, have you looked at actual and target values with a DiCE or are you just letting Don know "it's not right"? Also did you let Don know the boost pressures Ashok and myself asked about a few months ago as I'm sure they would of been of help to Marco.

Aye Tim logs went to Marco with boost pressure etc and he came back with this map that has better boost control on 'some' P2 cars.

I think the software problems are down to bad luck to be honest.

The only log I never pulled is the TCV duty cycle, that was due to my awaiting on my new laptop coming so I could use VIDA.  That was delayed so I never got around to it, fast forward to today I used a clean XP install on a work laptop todo the upload.

Not sure what else I could of done except buy a Vida capable laptop in the absense of my one.  (Can't install VIDA on a work lappy)

I did look at requested boost before missing the laptop and that was 1.45 bar according to the VIDA readout.

Surely 1.45 bar on a P2 2.5 is to much. I thought it should be 1.35 max due to the liners.

That's the same as what the ecu requests on mine.. 1.45 bar....

Mines fine though
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair

I must admit not understanding this value, and its use.

'Requested Boost'

Along with "Requested Boost" you would need to look at the effort that is being made to attain that boost, ie;  TCV duty cycle as on  it's own it's meaningless. Under certain load conditions you may have a far higher target than the actual so more than one part of data is required.

an MBC limiting boost would control the overshoot would it not?

Yes as Tingy said, though I like the look of the greddy blow of valve boost limiting tingymabobs.

My car wasn't happy with the map, it much smoother stock, that said it would be a weird hardware issue, albeit it got a clean bill of health by MRG the day before it was mapped.

That is what I or I should say Tim did with mine, now holds 1.3 bar no problem it was set at 1.4 fist time but Tim did some fettling and found that was the best setting.

It depends on how much of an overshoot there is, what i ment was if the only way of making the turbo responsive was by adding pretension therefore making the overshoot more of an issue than an MBC would be a suitable solution...

Without the tcv duty cycle logs thats my best geuss

I'll log the TCV cycles one the car is mapped again, I am with you on your thoughts mate.  Stock now and it's happy.

To go further into the overshoot thing, it was always in 5th and 6th gears, sometimes in 3rd and 4th also.

MTE recommended slackening off the WG, that made the boost come in later but it would still overshoot at WOT in those high gears,

Reset the WG using a pressure gauge and checked with tcv power off, .45 bar,  tcv back on and car didn't like this WG setting too much but soon learned but the overshoot was still there, fast forward to this week and it starts overboosting in 2nd, I detune and all is well, another map beckons from Marco.

Failing the software I shall have to get someone who knows these cars to check it over for hardware issues.  I guess Marco should be able to tell me on way or the other from his logs and obviously you gents with the VIDA logs.

If you suspect a hardware problem this needs to be confirmed/unconfirmed before changing/altering maps

Modified map is now on the car, forgot how quick they become when mapped, even at tick over it sounds menacing, lol.

Next I need to put some miles on it, data-log and test high rpm 5th and 6th test boost levels.

Hopefully it will be fine as it was absolutely faultless with the stock map; I could even plant my foot in fifth Posted Image

I've put  about 30 miles on it now and it's a much better map, the car feels happier and, strangley it feel FAR faster and also smoother around the town Posted Image

Not complaining at all just very happy.

Boost gauge reports 1.2 bar up until 5th where it hits 1.35 bar.  The gauge seems to move smooth much more stock like than the savage way it used to before.

Strange issue can't get my head around it, I'd love to know why it happened.

Next step is to send Marco some logs and await his verdict.
