I'd also like to say, the guys at MRG are fantastic. Helped me with my keyless entry/start (turns out I'm a massive dumb ass and the little keyless start bit that fits in the ignition was missing - doh! I just though it was keyless entry only).

Don't let your age define you. It's a number, that's all.

Nasty D5 dieseasel with few twiddly bits from TWR, MTE, IPD and Eibach but 600 miles to a tank ain't to be sniffed at :-)

In all fairness the Airbus with the CFM Engines is a pretty reliable tool. It has the odd issue, but nothing serious.

Sometimes the cup holders in the cockpit jam, this can become serious when a swap of hands is required with the coffee cup to reach the Jaffa Cakes packet.

I know that this question is not aimed at me but .......

I had an unmodified car insured with LV.
I asked them how much the premium would increase by if I had a re-map.
The answer was that there would be NO increase in premium.

So I got the car re-mapped and declared it to LV, and true to their word there was no additional premium to pay.

However, by the end of that insured year I had not receive a renewal invitation.
I rang them up and they told me that they were no longer willing to insure modified cars at all!

The irony of the situation was, that I then re-insured, declaring the re-map  with 'Highway' (at a very good price) and they are part of LV Posted Image.

Marc,

I recently purchased what the advertisment stated was a standard V60 D5 geartronic r-design premium. The salesman drove it away from the garage and we swapped part way through the test drive. When we swapped I went around the front of the car and when we went back to the garage he told me to revese par it to test the park sensors.

Impressed (although not fully "road tested" if you know what I mean) I paid my deposit and collected the car a week later. It was parked in a different spot when I collected it and it was then I noticed a small badge where the D5 shold have been - "Polestar Performance", what an added bonus.

I love this car and have impressed the living crap out of those who've enquired how fast she goes/accelerates. If you ask, you get is my motto!

I think you should have a few late night runs on Grande Route des Mielle!

Even Highway are tightening up their criteria. Chris Knott used to do a good policy via the forum but Highway put a limit on modified cars to only a 25% power increase which ruled out most of the cars insured. They would reinsure cars currently covered but the renewals were a joke, basically to shed existing  owners with over 25% power increase.

"Chris Knott used to do a good policy......" I'm a member of a number of car clubs and forums and I hardly ever see a good word written about CK as 'Club Insurers'.     I've run 3 or 4 cars for many many years and I ask them for a quote for each car at every renewal (living in hope Posted Image) and they have only come back  once with a competetive quote (which I accepted) in recent years.

They gave me a fantastic quote the first year. The second year was a joke, it was something like a 70% increase on the previous year.

Most of the insurance companies offer "new business" competitive first year quotes then shaft you on the renewal.

Indeed - But the shaft on the renewal is normally adjusted down to what a new customer would get when you phone them up and say 'Oi, you... NO!'.

Not with Chris Knott, they just said that's the best we can do. Like hell.
