1. Are the VIDA disks advertised on the web straight clones of Volvo disks or are they modified?
2. What does "patching" do?
3. Can Volvo disks be patched?
4. Do disks from the web need to be patched?
5. Does each version of VIDA need a different patch?
6. Is anyone able to give clear installation instructions?
7. Is it correct that new cars record what DICE devices are connected? If so, I would not wish to connect a DICE to the car? However, it would be nice to know if cloned DICE units work with a new 2012 model year car.
8. Is anyone able to supply a VIDA disk and patch?
Hope someone can help. Thank you from a Newbie.

You won`t get much of a reply to 8
The forum does not condone the use of pirated or copied software nor can it be seen to aid or abet someone who want`s it or has it
And to be honest i don`t think volvo uk or ford would be very impressed with us if we did
Do a search on here and you may find some answers regarding dice as a few members have those units
You might be better of PM`ing the relevent person and then it would be upto them wether they choose to divulge information or not
Oh and welcome to the forum

I cant remember it off hand and out in the truck so a pain to search for it, but he knows the site to obtain Dice units from China. Mine came in a Volvo box complete with the latest VIDA.
Can't help with the question about it recording Dice units connect to the later cars. Most of us are on the 850, P1 and P2 platform as the latest since the new cars are a. expensive and b.not tunable to the extent of the older cars and c. they don't make R models anymore sadly.

A few answers that shouldn't upset anyone, the info is out in the wild and it's not hard to find.
1. Are the VIDA disks advertised on the web straight clones of Volvo disks or are they modified?
2. What does "patching" do?
3. Can Volvo disks be patched?
4. Do disks from the web need to be patched?
5. Does each version of VIDA need a different patch?
Clones of Volvo discs. Not "patched" per se as I understand but copies of a local install that doesn't need to be connected to the web. Local log-in.
6. Is anyone able to give clear installation instructions?
8. Is anyone able to supply a VIDA disk and patch?
Google and the search function is your friend
7. Is it correct that new cars record what DICE devices are connected? If so, I would not wish to connect a DICE to the car? However, it would be nice to know if cloned DICE units work with a new 2012 model year car.
No ideas, sorry. thinking aloud though, seeing as (unofficial) DiCE units and Vida seem to be getting much more readily available it wouldn't suprise me to see Volvo making moves to lock things down more.

Assuming that I can get a copy of Volvo All-in-One, I need to know what would be necessary to get it up and running on a PC. I understand the comments about condoning pirated or cloned copies of software but I am surprised that this concern does not extend to cloned hardware i.e. DICE hardware.
I joined this forum because there appeared to be well informed members. I hope that someone can help.
Apologies for the long post.

Officially the use of VIDA requires a valid subscription. I would generally suggest keeping the discussion of the specifics of the setup off forum.
The DICE unit is a version of a industry standard js232 (or whatever the protocol is called)

Apologies for the long post.
There's absolutely nothing to apologise for, you haven't acted improperly in the slightest. The whole point of this forum is to ask (and answer!
No need to worry about a long post either, long posts only become an issue if you don't use formatting which makes them difficult to read. Clearly you don't have to worry about that either
