We acquired this just before Christmas.
Have done about 500 miles in the big girl so far, with a further 250 planned this weekend.....very comfy and surprisingly brisk.

A man of taste.  I'm running the same beastie too.

Heed and take notice of Tim's advice. Anything that can be done to aid the longevity of the GM 4T65EV/GT tranny on the T6 is an absolute must. Mine failed on me (at 72k miles) and was a very costly exercise indeed. Volvo do an additional ATF cooler (pt no 30741490) but I've not fitted that to mine yet. I would also check out the PAS cooler as these can be prone to fracture.

If you're looking for iPod/Aux connectivity to the installed ICE (more than likely Premium Dolby ProLogic II), best bet is to use a Dension Gateway 500. Expensive but well worth it.

One last thing...... How in FOOOK are you getting 22.9 MPG Average????? :o

the 22.9 average was after 500+ miles at 72mph on Cruise....once it is towing the horse box (it's intended usage) it will be averaging single figures or maybe low teens .

As you've said that you'll be towing, the additional ATF cooler is an absolute must and a fluid change would be my personal recommendations.

As for average mpg, mine has wavered between 18-22 mpg, the higher figure since my good lady missus has been driving it due to my health.

Looks very nice. Got a soft spot for these, just a shame about the associated problems (dodgy horse box pulling owners!) :D

Hey Stedders lad, at least we XC90 owners don't like gay dayglo gold!!!!!

Leave those "wonderful" colours to the stateside tuners who wish to embellish the XC with their own mark

They are a belting car in all honesty but not for the light of wallet. Independent servicing & aftermarket parts may be cheaper than main stealer but as with all P2 AWD platforms, jobs can be many & expensive. Once all of the niggles on mine are sorted, I'll be a happy bunny.

Update:
We have done just over 800miles in her over the Christmas period.
West-Midlands: Damp, shite covered roads.
Kent: Damp, potholed roads.
South Wales: Damp, covered in shite and some steep muddy tracks.

The big girl was Comfy and faultless :)

Lovely cars however I wouldn't touch one because of the gearbox, makes the angle gear problem look like chump change when it goes wrong.
I would get a large cooler complete with lovely fresh ATF fitted ASAP especially since your going to be towing a horsebox.

Good luck.

The auto gearbox "problem" is only related to the T6.

The 2.5T, D5 3.2 & V8 use Aisin Warner 5 or 6 speed boxes which in the XC90 application have proven to be as reliable as the other Aisin Warners fitted in the other P2 cars.

In all reality Aidy, the Aisin boxes are generally much more reliable than the GM 4 speeders.

The thing that mostly fooks the Aisin box is the box being filled with Dex III rather than the correct JWS3309 synthetic.

Very nice - but as said, anything to help the gearbox is not going to be money wasted. My S80 T6 back in the day had a new box at 50k miles and was quickly sold before the warranty expired.
It was a great engine though.

Ive had two T6's. Both the first thing that was done was the gearboxes and they have been faultless. As long as their looked after they will hold out. I sold the first one with over 130k on the clock and it ran lovely

The current S80 has 70k on the clock, Ive got 26-27mpg on a run, with between 22 and 23mpg around town

Truly impressed with OH's driving just now.
she had to get the horse trailer up a steep muddy track and around a corner into a remote paddock, she handled it without bother at all.....she's better at reversing the XC90 with Trailer on than I am.
