No, the bumper had been rubbing and made a little hole in the IC... Know way of seeing it from outside the car...

I thought it'd be making a right noise, I'd be worries about bits of IC or am I just paranoid?

Mine was making a lot of noise on boost and obviously went pop. It wore through very quickly though so was obvious.

Tbh i did notice that the turbo was significantly louder than my previous T5 however, as I've only had the car a few months assumed it was the norm... and the hole wasn't in the IC matrix it was in the pipe coming from it, and it was a gradual process so would have developed over time... may explain a slight rattle i experienced at 1800 RPM though, something vibrating at that frequency...

Still, get her back today (fingers crossed)....

Who designed that IC? It looks home made and that's being very kind.

Tbh I have no idea, i would ask nickman but he seems to have dissapeared seeing as he never sent away the logbook to the DVLA causing me a headache... As long as it does the job though...

looks like the pipe gets quite small where it enters/ exits the IC it cant be very efficient for its size if its having to compress like that at both ends

I would be tempted to fit a standard intercooler if it is an option. If the car runs std boost then the standard intercooler is OK.
