The week before Xmas and after the sun had melted the frost it left a track temp of 1·6°C and air temp of 2°C.

It remained very slippery especially on parts of the original GP circuit during the day hence a lot of red flags.
Although the RSR tires were ok a softer track day tire would be a better option in these conditions.

Some vid snips.

nicely done gary, thanks for putting those up, loved the spin Posted Image

really need to cross silverstone off my "list" someday. don't take this the wrong way (pretty sure you wont) and i know i'm armchair racing here but your lines through some of the new section seemed a bit dodgy.

I love driving Silverstone GP (it's my local circuit  Posted Image ) however I do miss the old GP layout.
But for me, the thrill is in the dry when I'm confident taking the fast corners fast!
I don't enjoy slippery conditions, struggling to keep the car on the grey stuff at moderate speeds.

Been there, done that, and I have to admit that I prefer it pi$$ing down to when it's just plain slippery.

Yep that was about the size of Combe this year. Track closed several times where it was too much of a river.

Agree with all the posts its all a learning curve whoever you are and whatever the car combo and predicting the weather is an art in it self Posted Image , that's what makes it such addictive fun, as regards the dodgy lines Irf its called finding the wet line to generate some tire temps Posted Image which never really happened...... Wet lines, now theres something I have absolutely no idea about!

I hear it on f1, remember the commentators going on about schumacher finding a certain line in the wet that others couldnt but when I've been out in the wet I've just stuck to the dry line and stayed away from kerbs and paint!

All the Silverstone Guru's were driving the yellow and blue Renault's take another look at the snips, most of the 80 odd cars had gone home by lunch time anyway and I can't say I blamed them, risking you're very expensive or otherwise road car in those conditions was at times a bit of a lottery.
