To summarize:
It is a well-known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.

To summarize the summary:
Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.

To summarize the summary of the summary:
People are a problem.

As far as welding goes..... It is actually very dificult to "fry" any vehicle electronics with a MIG welder unless you run the welder current down the vehicle's signal lines.

Contrary to poular beleif most MIG welders only run between 24 and 48 volts at the tip and are not "high voltage" items.

What does happen is that the AC ripple on the vehicles power can confuse the electronics a bit.

Grounded electrode welders do more damage to the vehicle than live electrode welders, this is because they put the 48V AC on to the vehicle ground.so then the whole vehicle is going up and down by 48Volts 50 times a second. This really confuses the car.

No garrage should really be using a grounded electrode MIG welder for those reasons.

I think that is the system they used as the welder said he earthed the plate he was welding. He said he didn't disconnect the battery because it had a coded radio.

Is the display fubbered? Do I push for new clocks?

I'd push for getting it off to Ford (i.e. someone who knows what they're doing rather than just making guesses) at their expense, so you know it's sorted properly.
