I could start with a joke; I'd love to stop smoking but I can't afford to buy and run a T5
But on a more serious note; good luck
As others have said, you have to break the addiction cycle or routine and provide yourself with alternative reward system.
I've had friends give up and put the money they'd normally spend into a large jar in a conspicuous place in the house. They were quite amazed how soon it built up into a tidy sum.
Be careful about your eating as Lottie says, or using food as a reward. Remember why the government actively promoted smoking during the last war - because it supresses appetite and that was useful during the years when strict food rationing was normal.
In the same way as you use smoking as reward system, I use exercise and holidays. For instance, yes I would love to have a T5 and mod it (hindsight is a wonderful thing re my D5) but rather than chuck more money that way I prefer to save to go skiing and ride the bike around the world and they ain't cheap on equipment or travel costs. The reward is getting to the bottom of black run on two planks of wood with thighs on fire or blasting down a strip of tarmac in the sun with just a pice of polystyrene foam on my bonce and lycra between me a nasty dose of gravel rash or worse. Excercise and the high after the pain is my addiction (plus the exercise does me good apart from when it does go wrong

).
And surely, if you don't want your kids to get the same habit is that not a damn'd good reason...................
I aslo find this quite off-putting

edit: how about trying a (forum) sponsored quit smoking and raise money for a good cause. There's enough time between now and Combe............
