The data is in CSV format IIRC, or some other delimited format, you can load into Excel for example

Ok will try that. I have csv files emails to me from power station can't make head nor tail of it.

I suppose I could email them to someone to convert.

There might be better suited packages for this application but Ecel will let you plots graphs from CSV,

I'll pm me email and I can ping you back Excel files from csv if you want?  Slightly pointless though as Excel reads csv.

CSV stands for 'comma separated file', simply put, it's a txt file delimited with commas, each new line represents a new record and each comma represents a field.

If those logs are as coarse as the plot shows them, you may as well not bother as it would appear their update speed is SLOOOOOOOWWWWW.

If you email them to me, I'll try to cross plot them to the previous figures from Rishworth ;)
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair

Eh,

Tim has DiCe - and also knows how to use it properly..

Why you'd go via Brum, from Kent, to get to Coalville - to a man who already has the kit baffles me quite a lot.

Hi all... Update, the mechanic found a pipe on the intercooler which has got rid of the Boost fault code and certainly seems to have upped the power. I havent reallly booted it even once upon Tim's advice but the mechanic reported taking it past 140mph on his favourite private road test track...

However, the emissions light remains and the dodgy idle is still there. One fault down, another few more to find (we know the timing is well out so hopefully that will remedy matters) and Torque is still reporting it as running lean...

cheers

James...

Don't let your age define you. It's a number, that's all.

Nasty D5 dieseasel with few twiddly bits from TWR, MTE, IPD and Eibach but 600 miles to a tank ain't to be sniffed at :-)

Just for reference for anybody else suffering this problem in the future...

Turns out the problem was not the timing (by pure fluke it was correct!!!) but was actually the throttle staying open (causing the high idle). Obviously this led us to look at the throttle body with the ETM but lo and behold the gasket was not on properly letting in air. ie causing all the issues...

Once we fixed this we took er out and blew the boost hoses off twice (i now know what to do in that situation, I won't panic :) )... THen with boost hoses on we take her up to speed and then boom, misfire on one cylinder and some very lumpy running. A compression check (heart in mouth moment) and then a look at the sorry state of the spark plugs which look like they have been in for years reveals that the sorry condition of them probably caused the coil failure on cylinder 3. SO new plugs and a new coil and we are good to go. She's running lovely now...

Suggests air leak somewhere between maf and inlet manifold, or maybe where the manifold sits on to the head.
