I have one of those crappy Aluminium Clarke 1.25t racing low slung trolley jacks which has now spat out all of its oil from the piston. Dooby has actually given me his knackered one too, so I have 2 knackered jacks. Need to change the seals on them etc, but I would like to keep it just for trackdays as its very light.

Thinking of getting another jack just for home use, rated at 2tonnes or more and just generally more heavy duty, better built and one that will last longer. It also has to be able to get under the V70 thats lower than your average lowered v70 as it has deeper side skirts.

I was thinking of this at £108 http://www.sealey.co...uiredresults=16

But are there any others I should consider around that price mark?

Halfords 2.25 Tonne quick lift Steve.  IIRC they may still be on offer around £50 insteand of £85.  They are !!! with axle stands as well:-

(May not go under V70 though-but did mine)

I've had there bog standard verson for years, it is slightly too high for the R where you got to jack it on the rear subframe mounting (by about 5mm, if that) which is rather annoying but just means a slight tug under the wheel arch to lift the front slightly and shove under with my foot.
£29.99, probably much less with a trade card if you know someone local. I blagged my trade card, work in the trade - detailer, here's my card . Bonus is they still pay cashback through quidco too even on trade purchases.

Top Tip with a Halfords trade card though.  Don`t try and use it for offers as they will charge you the full value.

Just measured the Jack - it is 145mm high fully lowered.

I'd have to fetch the wood! More walking, seriously it's easy just to shove it under but in Steve's case then there is the solution to a cheap but good jack despite his tart's car sideskirts Posted Image.

Mines four or more years old now and will still piss the front end of the R in the air with ease.

If you want one and haven't got a trade card local Steve let me know and we'll get it up your way somehow.

Fletch - Yep they even told me sometimes the cut price offers on certain things work out better than trade. I always get them to price both just to annoy them so I get the cheapest :whistling: (honarary northener me).

Never mind your leg, what going on with your toes man? Posted Image

Thanks guys, will have a look at both the Halfrauds and Costco jack specs. I really can't be arsed with having to lift the car or put bits of wood underneath before jacking, will make sure I get the one that suits my needs :)

I'm not called Jack but I could probably recommend this one:

Sealy is the same as the Clarkes one. Loads of Seloc'rs have used the low entry ali ones and they are shit.

I've got a Screwfix one, just use a couple of wooden planks to raise the car height.

If anyone wants Halfords vouchers, I can get 10% off as part of my Seloc membership - just pm me.

Don't laugh, But I bought a 2ton jack from Llidel of all places, got it 2 years ago and it still works perfectly. Not sure of the make, but its well built, light and does my V70 no problem,

Keep an eye in Llidel, they may bring it back again through the summer.

PS, I also got axle stands from the same place, they are just as good. I think I paid £15 for jack and £4.99 for stands. Best £20 I have ever spent.

Hope this helps

I use a Clarke jack, one of the heavy duty red varieties rather than the low weight blue one.

It's got a low saddle height, so fits under my car with ease, and has performed faultlessly for 5 or 6 years now. Think I paid about 75 quid. It is heavy, but not so heavy that you can't lift it and carry it if you need to.

I have three of the sealy ones, but the mech wears out fast causing issues to rasie and lower the jack. Mine are used alot though, so for a home diy, its will be fine.

I keep in my car a Costco one..... Its a light alu one, its been great for me and i think i paid 40 for it.
