Very nice, sounds better equipped. Shame it's a 4 pot, 2 bar boost as standard though...

As a spacious load carry the V60 is pretty poor really. But then you wouldn't buy a V60 for lugging loads. But then why would you buy a 367bhp V60 ? It'd be better as an S60 IMO.

Each to their own I guess.

New S60 Polestar will be made but NOT for UK.

Current V60 Polestar has a new price listing of £49,775

What guessing the new V60 will be around £50K +.

Surely they are now far far too expensive for what they are.

Even the second hand ones now sell for £34K to £38K.  A NEW Ford Focus RS is only £29,995.

What would you choose for around £50,000 a Volvo or ???????

Whilst I like Volvo's I'm not a fan of the cheap finish to modern cars. If Volvo is still under Ford then those prices are silly due to a cheap feel and the polestar variants still seem tame in comparison to the competition.

Quite agree with last comment.

The Volvo is up against cars around £10,000 cheaper:-

VW Golf R

Honda Civic Type R,

BMW M135i,

Ford Focus RS

Seat Leon Cupra

Its only the Mercedes A45 AMG which is more overpriced

A V60 doesn't compare to any of those cars in size  :tea:

Doesn't the Golf have a larger load space (volume in litres) than the V60 ?

The VW Golf R is actually available as an estate as well  as the more normal saloon.

Not sure the look is to my taste but Google VW Golf R Estate in 'Images'

Didn't know that - but I was referring to a hatchback Golf rather than any estate derivative. The estate Golfs have never looked right IMO. Even the Jetta/Bora looked wrong..

Just to add to the controversy it also uses fake sounds.

Here is a video of the estate R:-

Believe it or not the R has an artificial interior sound generator called a  'soundaktavator' which puts a resonance into the dash / windscreen  and makes it sound more 'sporty' inside but not outside the car.

You can hear a before and after removal here:-

Sheer luxury that.

When I was living in shoebox in centre of motorway we could only afford a   'used ice lolly stick'.

This fake sound m'larky is just plain wrong, wrong, wrong in my opinion .....

What next.... A diesel car that sounds like a petrol powered AMG merc inside?

As lovely at the V60 Polestar is, and I've watched all the reviews, I can't help but think £35k can buy something else with a little more presence and just as capable. Until Volvo release something that is significantly different from what they're known for they won't ever break into the luxury performance market IMO.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Mo.

If we start at a realistic £30,000 or so my limited research on a new purchase starts with either one of the new RSs or a V8 Mustang, through to the magnificent new M2 then on to the upcoming Alfa Giulia V6 that may be nudging on £55,000  possibly more. Maybe the Fords don't have the luxury tag, but for most of us they have charisma and character, sod the bluecollar slur, and if the past counts the new RS will be a very slow depreciator. Ford may not have a luxury tag, but performance and handling they do in spades and at good prices and their quality and engineering  is top notch.

What can Volvo realistically offer to beat any one of these at any price point for presence or performance from the kit of platforms, engines and transmissions in or planned for their inventory that will render them more than a bit part player in the future.

Best they could do would be a current V40 with T6 engine and the GKN AWD system from the new RS, which would fit, but they currently have no manual box....

And then the bad news continues for Volvo in respect of the choice open to us for good used options with some provenance, p* has none.

Provenance contributes to presence and other stuff.....
