Best Handsfree Option

5 posts in this topic

Im picking up my new car tomorrow (2005 V70 D5) which has a HU850 fitted.

I want to be able to have handsfree phone and bluetooth audio from my phone.

I had an aftermarket HU that did everything I wanted in my last car... is that the best option here or a grom/similar unit?

Thanks

Sadly the technology thats in these cars will be about 20 years old now.  Don't bother upgrading to the OEM phone with removable sim etc, its a PITA.

A new modern head unit is probably the way forward or something like a Parrot kit.

To do it all I'd say aftermarket head unit.

I bought a great Pioneer system for <£300 and should be even less now I guess.  It does it all and more.

Here's my thread including it.

For just a stand-alone blutooth, as mentioned a parrot kit or Bury which I personally prefer due to it its voice  command quality) would be the way to go.  But, bear in mind, these can be costly especially with installation so you may be better off with a head unit.  Other wise, just get a sun visor clip style bluetooth unit such as Jabra, Bury, Parrot which for circa £50 ish makes best sense to me for a standalone bluetooth option.
