Got this on Saturday afternoon. Meets my needs perfectly and is a lot of car for the money. I've seen T5s go on ebay for less than this but i assume they must be dogs, anyway,here is 720 quids worth of 855

10 months MOT,no tax, electric front windows,sunroof and mirrors,heated half leccy seats,everything works, just found out today its an "S"
2.0 20V, I love the sound it makes,when i first started it when viewing it sounded incredible just idling. never heard such a nice noise from an "Everyday car"

Only problems are,spot of rust under numberplate on boot,small dent on passenger front door at the back end of the rubbing strip and the inside edge of tyres is going. (getting the tracking done ASAP and gonna get some eagle F1s)

Opinions welcome, im chuffed.

After these photos were taken ive given the interior a bloody good clean and flipped the dog guard up to the headlining. Gonna scrub the pedal covers tomorrow as theyre probably the dirtiest bit. If its dry tomorrow its wash time (ill detail the tyres and "black" trim while im at it (if ive got any back to black anywhere)

open the bonnet, on the right hand side as you look in there'll be a plate. third line down i think is your colour code, probably either 427 or 214.

Latest development.

V5 only says Volvo 850 on it
My insurance company (adrian flux) were asking what model it was when i called em cos from the reg plate they only knew 850)
Boot says 850 2.0 and thats it

So i assumed it was a "base model" and i also assumed it'd be a 20V (being a 1996 car)

While cleaning the interior today i came accross the origional pre sale inspection certificate which says its an 855S (where is the S in the line-up,its well specced for me anyway)

And then today when checking my emails ive received an email quote from Bell insurance who list it as, a 10V!! Surely the 10V wasnt in production after the 20V engine was released?  If so why! looking at the engine when i bought it it looked like a very modern engine but i couldnt see the HT leads and where they went so i couldnt tell. can u guys show me a picture of a 10V 2.0 and a 20V 2.0 and ill know which one mine is? failing that ill get u guys a pic for tomorrow so u can tell me. Guted if i havent got 142BHP.

S is the entry level trim (although extras may have been added)

it was IIRC  spec levels went from S, SE, GLT, CD in the trim spec levels, but you find CD models with no extras, and SE with everything on options list fitted.

Paint code says its "Amethyst /Aubergine pearl metallic" which sounds right, paint code is 420-21 but that site only lists the 420 part.

if you look at top of that page, its explains about the 5 digit paint code

the last 2 digits are the paint MNF/type

Quote

Exmple: 850 has the paint code 189-21. The first three digits (189 in this case) is for Volvo's colour code 189 Polar White

The fourth digit stands for:
1 = BASF (Glasurit)
2 = Herberts (STANDOX)
3 = Beckers
4 = IDAC/Dupont
5 = Sikkens
6, 7, and 9 = not used
8 = IVI

The fifth digit stands for:
1 = solvent based
2 = water based Metallic/Pearl + Varnish
3 = water based Solid + Varnish
4 = solvent based Solid + Varnish
5 = solvent based Pearl shine + Varnish*
6 = water based Solid/Metallic/Pearl + 2 component Varnish
7 = water based Solid/Metallic/Pearl + powder Varnish
8, 9 = not used

*Because of the transparent pearl coat this concept includes a solid colour which is applied under the pearl coat
