Following the numerous spam members, and the solutions put into place to deal with them there has also been a look into the current list of banned members and their accounts, and potential duplicate accounts and workrounds that they may have taken.

As a result, the following list of members are currently listed as banned.

-----------------------------------------------------------
T5Tinker (Duplicate)
Moose-5 (Banned)
Bluefin (Other account name mentioned)

Attempt to defraud members
-----------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------
R-Spec (Banned)
R-Spec Ltd (Duplicate)

Duplicate Accounts by banned member.
Banned for abuse
Confirmed by IP Addresses and other common links
-----------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------
Volvocarukltd (Duplicate)
Darth Vardis (Duplicate)
-----------------------------------------------------------

Further duplicate accounts may be notified as and when they are found, Attempts to circumvent controls that are in place will result in those accounts being banned also and should current members be creating duplicate accounts for banned members (and there is reason to believe this has been the case previously from the information within the IP Logs) then all those accounts (Compromised or otherwise) will be banned without further discussion until decisions have been made.

Rules and restrictions on duplicate accounts were made for a reason and those restrictions are clearly within the guidelines section http://forums.t5d5.o...?act=boardrules

Given the comments earlier, before the database rebuild, IP Addresses and Email addresses will not be posted, however should it come that such links have to be proven (By complaints or otherwise) then that information will be posted.

We only ban those members that are trying to deceive the forum with duplicate accounts, so partners such as Mrs Tony and Lottie have nothing to worry about.

Eh?

Don't be silly....

Partners accounts aren't a problem, and it's fairly clear when it's a partners account, so such as in the case of Rufe/Lottie it's fairly clear that the duplication of accounts is so that it is two distinct people.

We aren't just going round banning accounts just because a partner registers an account! A true "duplicate" account is one intended to deceive or imply that a member is not who that member is, or as a way of circumventing a ban.

For example

MemberA gets banned...

two weeks later MemberA sets up a new account called MemberZ from another computer at their mates etc and then uses MemberZ to get round the ban on MemberA
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair

Furthur to Bens last line-MemberZ then uses thier own Computer and admin sees the details thus proof of duplicate account.
