Balls, I've got tinworm :-(

05 May 2012 - 17:45

Giving the barge a wash and clean up and noticed two small areas of blistering painwork on the tp of the drivers side passenger door. Peeled back the seal to reveal "tinworm" Posted Image .

Orestes wheels (set of 5) please

30 April 2012 - 18:21

Just in case anyone has any lying around. I'm after a set of 5 Orestes 17" wheels (to give a full sized spare as well as 4 on the car). Condition not too important as they would be refurb'd but obviously don't want buckles or dents and prefer not too much kurbing to keep refurb costs down.

Ta,
Robbie

ps: they aren't for me, I think I've got enough Posted Image

Help - IPD arb bushes knackered

09 March 2012 - 13:40

Been suffering fromm a nasty knocking from the front end since early New Year and it certainly has gotten worse since I've be hacking backwards and forwards over the Pennines whilst Mum was ill and afterwards.

Happens especially when going over potholes or lumps in the road at low speed, but some high speed holes (such as on the A1 at one point) sound awful. A proper CLUNK Posted Image

Initially I suspected the IPD drop links had finally given up the ghost so ordered a set of Meyle HD ones and got the local indy to fit them quickly (haven't had the time to mess about on the drive and try to fit them myself).

No joy, still clunking like a *******

So talked with Howard (indy) and put the car in for a full check up with the thought that maybe the original top mounts had gone (another common cause of clunks).

Suspension history is:

Stock stuff that was on was replaced with new OEM shocks plus IPD drop links and Eibach Pro lowered springs in June 2009. New rubber springs cups (Febi OEM) but left the top mount bearings alone as they appeared in good nick. Drove fine afterwards and no issues.

Stock arb's replaced with IPD ones in May 2010 (from Shem's ex-plod). Once again handling was fine and no issues (up to now).

Got the news yesterday that they had checked over the car and one of the front arb bushes has started to disintegrate and is probably the cause of the noise (also a good possibility given info I've seen when std OEM arb bushes fail).

Having a quick look around web, noticed that PFS sell an uprated ARB kit which looks suspiciously like mine, i.e. actually made by IPD. http://www.partsforv...roducts_id=5935
Also that they now sell a bush repair kit http://www.partsforv...roducts_id=6766

Can't find any other source of similar "poly" bushes for this arb badged for Volvo  but I have seen similar bushes (25mm) on fleabay that are somewhat cheaper. Is it worth a punt (being an honourary tight wad northerner) or should I just bite the bullet and get the ones from PFS? Anyone know if Don stocks the bushes given that he does sell the IPD arb kits?

I don't think I need new brackets, just new bushes and they all look very similar (even down to the blue colour) Posted Image

Need to sort this out asap as we are meant to be off to the Alps in 3 weeks time Posted Image

at work at the moment and no time to ring round hence the list of questions.
