S60R - New shocks and Eibachs

19 May 2012 - 19:23

After finding a supplier that did the shocks cheaper than the Monroeshop online, £332 as opposed to £391 a pair. Glad to say other forum members have taken advantage too Posted Image. I also ordered a set of Eibach R Springs too which will get used on track so coupled with new shock we'll find out how they work properly.

Andy gave me a hand, couldn't have done it without him. Thanks Andy Posted Image.
Fronts were easy, rears were a pain until we figured it out which made the other side easier.

The old shocks were shot, you could feel that compressing them. If you have an R and you shocks are 'misting' to any degree they will be 'past there best'.

Initial Impressions are good. Prefer the ride now, slightly firmer and you notice the craters/potholes in the road more but certainly turns better. Have to let them settle and fit a couple of Polybushes to the rear before I have it aligned and then I can report back more plus they get used on track.

Certainly looks the mutts (yes I know it need a clean, also need correcting badly too so the dirt hides that Posted Image).

Detailing/Correction Work

14 April 2012 - 21:57

Since the better weather is coming if anyone would like some work doing the their cars could they please PM me so I can start planning to fit around my work.

You can bring your car to me and leave it or I can travel to you however this would be at your expense, I would only charge for my fuel and not my time, and if the job required me to stay over then accomodation would need to be provided or paid for.

A full correction is likely to require around 25-30 hours (around 3 days) depending on the level of marring to the paintwork and a partial correction 15-20 hours (2 days).
Huw and DTP's cars were full corrections whilst Roy's Porsche was a partial one (due to me only having two days spare but the option was left for further correction should this be required by Roy).

Further details please PM me. This in not my occupation so I have to fit it around everything else so first come, first serve.

Roy's VW Beetle (Porsche 996 Carrera 4S)

13 April 2012 - 04:49

Been at Roy's for a couple of days to detail his Beetle on steriods.
I only had two days to spare, ideally I would have liked more time to get the correction further but I had to be at Tim's Friday to sort an ongoing issue and other work with my R.
Thanks to Roy and his mum and dad for their hospitality and whilst this isn't a full 100% correction I would place it at around 80-85%. Total time 15 hours.
It does look rather nice, even if it is an oversized Beetle.
Photos are not in any order as I'm about to run out the door to go to Tim's.

S60R Roof Wrap. Thanks Adam :).

01 April 2012 - 20:04

Right some of you will remember we had problems with the wrap on the Halfrauds paint when it was first done.
Needless to say it was a f**king nightmare to remove. If we ever have the apocolypse on the horizon I recommend you spray yourself in Halfrauds Matt Black Paint because you WILL survive.
Belt sanding the paint meant that it melted, yes really, it melted onto the edge of the belts and lumped up in balls. We got some off but basically the whole roof had to be done by hand and wet and dry. I'd already done some leading up to the weekend but it was not good fun!

Piccys.
